Sarah (last name)

Thesis

Schools should not require uniforms. While school uniforms were implemented to foster a better environment, organization, and improve safety they often fall short on these goals. In reality uniforms Surpress a students individually, inflict financial hardship on parents who are already struggling, and may exacerbate bullying.

First body paragraph

First and foremost, schools must consider that mandatory dress codes often stifle personal identity during a crucial time of teenage development. I completely agree, nice work.

HOWEVER, the part where it says uniforms inflict financial hardship on parents who are already struggling is kind of the opposite, so I wouldn't include that. I think school uniforms help low-income families by creating a level playing field that masks visible socioeconomic differences, reducing the financial pressure to purchase expensive brand-name clothing, and simplifying daily routines. That's about the only benefit to them, so if you're required to write a counterargument, then I would include this.
