Kiryu has announced the band will go on an indefinite hiatus after their 16th anniversary show on December 18th, 2023. Here is the official announcement:
"Thank you very much for always supporting Kiryu.
Kiryu will go on an "indefinite hiatus" after the "Kiryu 16th Anniversary Commemoration at Zepp Haneda" concert to be held on December 18th, 2023.
We’ve been continuously active since 2007 until now, but as a result of repeated discussions with the members and staff about our future activities, we have decided to take an indefinite hiatus to allow each member to recharge their batteries to aim for even higher goals later.
We sincerely apologize for this sudden announcement.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our fans and all the people who have supported our activities so far.
We will protect "Kiryu" as a place where the members belong, and we would be grateful if you would support the new activities and challenges of the five members.
Again, we would like to thank all of you for your support of Kiryu."
As sad as this is, I hope the members are able to rest and relax and “recharge” as they said. I know Mahiro hasn’t been in the best of health these last couple of years, so I hope he’s able to get plenty of rest after their hiatus.
