LUMINOUS Announces Disbandment After Three Years of Activities

On February 9, 2025, LUMINOUS, the four-member boy group under SE Group Entertainment, announced their disbandment after nearly four years of activity. The group, consisting of Youngbin, Suil, Steven, and Woobin, shared this news through an official statement from their agency and heartfelt handwritten letters to their fans, known as LUMINI.

In the official statement, SE Group Entertainment expressed gratitude to the fans who supported LUMINOUS since their debut in 2021. The agency explained that after extensive discussions, both the company and the members agreed to conclude their contracts and group activities. They conveyed deep appreciation to all fans who have shown unwavering love and support throughout the group's journey. Following the announcement, the members individually addressed their fans through handwritten letters, expressing their emotions and gratitude.

LUMINOUS debuted on September 9, 2021, with their mini-album "YOUTH," featuring the lead single "RUN." Over the years, they released several projects, including their first studio album, "Luminous in Wonderland," in August 2022. Their music often centered around themes of youth, perseverance, and growth, resonating deeply with their audience.

As the members embark on new individual paths, SE Group Entertainment has expressed its support for their future endeavors. Fans are encouraged to continue their unwavering support for Youngbin, Suil, Steven, and Woobin as they pursue new opportunities.

I feel sorry to deliver such heavy news to LUMINI, who have always waited for us.

Thanks to LUMINI, who always supported and loved us, I was truly happy while promoting as LUMINOUS. The cheers, the eyes filled with love from the audience, and the sounds of support were moments that made me feel alive. The kind words and heartfelt letters from fans were always a great source of comfort for me.


I never wanted to write such a sad message, and it’s still hard to believe this is happening. The time I spent with LUMINI and the members was incredibly precious and will remain unforgettable. I have treasured every moment on stage, and the memories I created with LUMINI will forever stay in my heart.


To my fellow members, who have always looked in the same direction as me, supported each other, and run forward together, I am grateful and sorry. To our CEO, who provided us with guidance despite our shortcomings, I sincerely thank you.

For me, these years were incredibly precious and filled with beautiful moments that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Once again, I truly appreciate everything.


Even though I will no longer be “Youngbin” of LUMINOUS, I plan to continue promoting under the name “Byungil.” I hope you will continue to support me in my future endeavors.


And to my fellow members—Suil, Steven, and Woobin—I love you all so much.

Hello, this is Woobin. LUMINI, are you doing well?

I wasn’t sure how to start this letter, but I will try to put my thoughts into words. Writing a letter to LUMINI like this feels a bit unfamiliar, and delivering such sudden news makes me feel truly sorry.

More than anything, I feel regretful toward LUMINI, who know me better than anyone. I worried a lot about how to bring this up and whether my words might cause sadness.

Looking back, I think I spent a lot of time wondering how I could repay you with good performances. When you looked at me, your eyes were always filled with love, sometimes even more than from my own family. Thanks to you, I was able to shine brightly during this time.

LUMINI are my pride and my light.

I hope you continue to walk a beautiful path ahead. Our time together has been full of precious moments, hasn’t it? I hope you enjoyed our journey as much as I did. I had so much fun and was truly happy!

Thank you for creating unforgettable memories with me.
