seventeen is probably the best well off pledis artist, pretty much all others have had misfortunes with pledis.
son dam bi, their first artist and soloist. i had read somewhere that she had said in an interview that her time as a singer was so bad that its the reason she gave up singing, but i can't find it now so take it with a grain of salt.
after school, their first girl group. they had a graduation concept, not unlike nct dream has now, but it was somewhat poorly executed. all the members that graduated ended up leaving the company. after school and its subunit orange caramel haven't had a release since 2014. there has been no update on the group, with only 3 members left in the lineup and no news of new members. they are officially on hiatus but at this point they could've officially disbanded them and given play girlz some peace of mind. instead members are doing their own thing and slowly graduating and leaving the company.
nu'est, their first boy group. when they debuted with a fresh concept they were quite popular, but some poor management decisions by pledis slowly killed off their fandom and popularity. they promoted extensively in japan under another agency that allegedly abused them before bringing them back. they had to go on produce 101 to get fans because they were on the verge of disbanding.
pristin. a popular and promising group that ended up disbanding, ostensibly because pledis didn't want to deal with the fatshaming being thrown at kyla. truly a shame. xiyeon had been in this company for most of her life, only to have things end like this.
there's also han dong geun, their ballad singer, who after getting a dui last year hasn't been heard from.
after produce 48, kaeun and heo yoonjin did a handful of activities together and then nothing. it is unclear if there are plans for yoonjin to join a group or debut solo or what. and kaeun graduated last month. its shocking that pledis didn't do anything with them considering how swiftly pledis rolled out nu'est w after produce 101. lots of people were expecting a duo debut or group debut with other produce 48 contestants. i even dared to hope for an after school comeback.
pledis also have a big issue with listening to fans. plenty of loves and highs will tell you how pledis deletes comments on their fancafes asking for information about their artists. late last year highs were protesting outside the pledis building demanding information about pristin and covering the building in post-its. pledis ignored them. it's become abundantly clear that they only care about carats' boycotts (over a youtube channel of all things) and now that nu'est are popular again, loves. but they still suck at communicating with fans. such as the nu'est japan fansign that was supposed to happen around the same time. fans were worried due to the lack of information about the event and past experiences and were asking pledis to give more information. instead pledis canceled the fansign completely, didn't clarify the situation at all, and broke the hearts of many japanese loves who were nu'est's bread and butter for so long.
pledis has a knack for cultivating amazing artists and then managing them into the ground. seventeen is the exception if you can call it that. plenty of carats are concerned that seventeen are being overworked by pledis. recent activities where pledis has scheduled several events for seventeen in different countries in a short amount of time have been cause for concern.
pledis has made it clear they only care about their boy groups at this point, despite being built by women. and that's only when said boy groups are popular.
rant over.
