Jaemin is under contreversy for what he has said on the radio show.

Translated, this is what he said "Uh... first, I had a great time being on the radio program of such a famous, and retarded... and well-known, and smart DJ, our Sun-D, everyone... and I hope that everyone will continue to love our Dreamies' new album and 'Ridin'' until the end, and I'll wrap it up here."

But this word is very similar in pronunciation to another Korean word, so K-Netz think that he might have just pronounced the word wrong.

What are your thoughts on the situation?

im pretty sure he just pronounced the word wrong, it wouldnt make sense to say that word while hes complimenting (?) i havent seen the video but based on the comments on the article, he corrected himself after making the mistake. i think the akp aticle is very misleading

Yeah same. And knowing Jaemin, that's probably what happened. He trips up over his words and things like that all the time. Personally, I think akp is one of those sites that tries to spread stuff around for the sake of seeming like they have a news story.

They're just reporting on the news. Its the people in the article they're talking about that have blown it up from what it should be. I think he mispronounced the word, but I-Fans were very upset with him. On most other kpop forums there were millions of threads about it.

Yeah but still. If they didn't publish an article about it because its "news" then it wouldn't have become an even bigger deal. And I bet there were. Stuff like this travels fast.

Other sites were reporting on it as well, only used AKP because I'm active on their forums, so I had access to that link the fastest

Okay well I guess I meant if all the sites weren't reporting on it then it wouldn't have a big deal. And at the same time, fans need to stop immediately jumping all over idols for a slip up in something simple like mispronunciation. Like come on guys, he mispronounced something, let the man breath, its not the end of the world, let's argue about something worth it. (totally not saying that you or anyone else here is jumping on him, just saying about the fans who started all this in first place).

it's a serious word but it doesn't have the same connotations as "retarded" does in english
the mispronunciation argument is pretty weak since even if it was unintentional (doubt- it was not reacted to like a mistake, jaemin is very clever and perfectly fluent in korean) the rest of dream all very obviously laughed at it
the bigger problem is that kfans especially those who feel he disrespected haechan by saying that are connecting it to other potentially problematic behaviors of jaemins that seem harmless alone but look more and more incriminating when all put together
if just this incident was career ruining or even just widely recognizably offensive i can't imagine it would've been kept in the final edit... jaemin is just under a lot of scrutiny lately for various reasons

And I feel we all have to remember that he's only 19/20. Speaking as someone who's in university and spend a lot of time around males of this same age, they all have potentially problematic behaviors and they mess around and say things they're not supposed to like that. They call each other names and disrespect each other sometimes. It's like some weird pack bonding thing. Now should they be acting that way? No, but it happens. Plainly speaking, males at that age are dumbasses. While it's not excusing that behavior for Jaemin or anyone, I think people should remember that he is still just a kid and he's doing what guys do at that age, he's still growing and developing after all. He's not a thirty something guy who said it. That would a whole lot more problematic.

yeah I agree lol I think honestly it’s more realistic to assume plenty of male idols engage in behaviors like that in their personal time. they’re pretty and wear fancy clothes but ultimately they’re still teenage/early twenties boys, mostly from wealthy backgrounds, it’s masochistic to expect them to be perfect specimens of social justice
