So you know how sometimes companies or shows will prank an idol or a group? Usually the prank goes over decently well and doesn't cause any intense emotions.
However, not every prank is like this, including the two I'm gonna share today. There are many more I know of which I won't talk about, so if you have an example feel free to comment it!
Jackson-GOT7 and His Mom
Jackson was pranked 2 times based on the topic of seeing his mom.
#1. Doni and Coni: Jackson had been doing some kind of show with several other idols that was hosted by the duo. The show had this competition that if won it meant the person would get to travel abroad anywhere with Doni and Coni. Jackson is from Hong Kong, and he rarely gets to see his family, so of course he was excited, tried his hardest, and won.
Later on GOT7's manager was speaking to the duo and said that Jackson wouldn't be able to go due to a schedule. Instead of them telling Jackson and leaving him disappointed but not nearly as upset, they didn't. Instead they told Jackson they would meet him so they could drive to the airport early the next morning. When Jackson got into the van with Doni and Coni they started to hype him up about being able to go home and see his parents. Then they arrive at the airport and Doni and Coni get out and tell Jackson to stay in the van to change into darker clothing. They told the driver to just start driving off once the van door closed. Doni and Coni then address the camera stating their "apologies" to Jackson over the scheduling mess up. As this is happening the driver begins to drive away with Jackson so he can go to a schedule at Music Bank. Doni and Coni waved at him and started laughing at the prank. Jackson was of course very confused and thought he was getting pranked, well he was just not the one he hoped for.
This one just absolutely crushes my heart. It was incredibly malicious on part of Doni and Coni. They really hurt Jackson, and I don't know how he was able to interact with them after that happened.
#2. Roommates: Jackson was on another show called 'Roommates'. I don't really know the context of the show so I won't even try to describe it. Basically they told Jackson that they were able to get his Mom to fly from Hong Kong to Korea to see his upcoming performance. In a previous episode Jackson had expressed his longing to see his Mother and how much he loved her and meant to him. So, what do they do, they take advantage of that. They feed Jackson the lie that his Mom would be coming until they actually get backstage. They tell him that she is waiting outside and she would come if he called out to him. And so Jackson very enthusiastically starts shouting for his Mom, until his one of his roommates walks in instead. He knew he had been maliciously pranked at this point and looked very crestfallen. In a later interview on the show he said that he almost cried in that instance.
My heart is hurting again for Jackson.
