How does being "Poly" work?
Me i'm a bisexual person and new to the LGBTQ+ community.so how does being poly work?

1.Do you have to be int he community or can you be straight?
2.If your straight but dating a poly person is that considered cheating or no?

i haven’t been in a poly relationship but from what i’ve seen on here is definitely a good example and why you shouldn’t be in one, i can see how u can love two people or more at the same time but having a poly relationship
just seems draining tbh .

I’m in one right now, and it’s really nice, actually. Admittedly I’m in a relationship with a system (someone living with DID) and I’m dating three of her alters, so it’s easier in that I don’t have to choose who to spend time with, but sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s fronting, and I have to remember which inside jokes I have with which partner, so it’s easy to accidentally make an alter feel left out. /gen

For me poly relationships most give me more love some give me less sometimes I feel left out but meh it doesn’t matter that much

hiiiii i used to be polyamorous/ambiamorous but am now strictly monogamous

first off, i wanna state that these relationships were between very unstable and toxic individuals, and do not represent how a polyamorous relationship should be!!!

i have been involved in 3 polycules, one had three of us who all dated each other, the next had myself and my partner who had partners that i wasnt dating, and the third and final one was a polycule between 4 of us, who all dated each other for the most part (until things fell apart)

1st one:
there is myself, T, and G
T was very uh. weird. fetishized things like mental illness but when myself and G were actually mentally ill, she would get mad at us. G and i broke things off with T and kept to ourselves, but the relationship became extremely toxic and abusive. there was a lot more but its. a lot.

2nd one:
i dont remember much but we werent together for a very long time (a month at most i believe), but it was nice. we just didnt know how to communicate out of fear of being left behind

3rd one:
there is myself, J, K, and B
J, K and B were all together and then i joined and originally dated J and K, but then dated B for a little bit. K and B were the closest, while J and i were kinda just on the side to ourselves. K and B eventually broke up with us both and J and i only stayed together for another week or so before she went back to K and B and broke up with me. which hurt a lot, i wont lie. but they all were uh. very. very gross people now that im away from them and look back at things


poly is definitely not for everyone, and if you have jealousy issues, please do not dive into polyamorous relationships before getting help for those said jealousy issues

as for where i am now, im now in a committed monogamous relationship with my boyfriend and it has genuinely been the healthiest relationship i have ever been in, both platonic and romantic wise. just know your boundaries and definitely do not force yourself into poly relationships, it will hurt a lot in the long-run

THIS IS AWESOME im a system host myself and while im the only one in our system thats dating my boyfriend, its so nice to have singlets date systems and be aware of our issues : ))
