4. Things You Should Always Keep in Your Wallet
First of all, any time you go anywhere you should have your wallet with you.
Here are somethings you should always keep in it!
-Cash
Well duh, you need money. But instead of just carrying debit/credit cards, you should carry some cash to. Some places don't accept cards, so it's important to have cash. Also change. This can be good for vending machines.
-Credit/Debit Cards
If you have one, you should keep it. You never know if you need to buy something out of emergency.
-Drivers' License/ID
Carrying an ID is really important if you need to go somewhere your identity needs to be verified. You should also also have your drivers' license when you are driving especially. You never know when you could get pulled over or if you get into an accident. Another good reason to have an ID with you is if you randomly pass out and you are by yourself. How are people gonna know who you are and how to help you?
-Insurance Card
It's important to have this if there is ever a medical emergency.
-A List of Emergency Contact Numbers
This is similar to the ID thing. If you are every incapacitated, people can call these numbers and contact your loved ones for help.

Some things you shouldn't carry:
-Social Security card

If you get pick pocketed then someone can easily steal your identity.
-Any list of passwords or important numbers
Again with pick pocketing, you could get hacked.

That's all for today!
tara ur the best!! keep up the good work!!

This one isn't so adulty, more useful for all ages.
It's a diy thing I discovered a couple years back that saves me a lot of time and space.
5. Best Way to Store Earrings/Pins
Storing earrings properly so you can see all of them and without them falling everywhere is nearly impossible.
Here's what I do with my 5million pairs of cheap earrings.
-Find any ribbon-like material, preferably something that is a bit tougher.
-Take an earring and stick it through the ribbon and then put the backer on it on the other side of the ribbon
-Repeat this with all of your earrings.
You can also roll/fold the ribbon so it fits into compact spaces.
Here is what is should look like if the description was confusing:

You can also store other types of pins and such on it!
I find this 'life hack' to be super helpful. I can see all my earrings without dropping a bunch. It's also aesthetically pleasing.
You can hang it like in this picture, or just fold it up and put it in a drawer like I do!

I hope some people actually find this useful. I could think of anything else...

This would be useful if I wasn't so sensitive to earrings. I'm even sensitive to some that are hypoallergenic.

6. Thins You Should But Often Don't Clean
This is one I learned recently with my roommates.
We all know that it's important to clean counter tops, floors, toilets, etc. But there are a couple other things that many people tend to forget to clean but should.

-Fridge/Freezer
Any place that you store food in should be cleaned. Especially if it's stuff like fruits and vegetables that can go bad really easily. Food also spills all the time, so it's important to clean that up before it hardens. Like the juices from a spill case of raspberries did in my fridge.

-Microwave/Toaster
Another place where you are putting food, so same premise as the point above. Also, by not cleaning cooking appliances, anything you cook in it could start to smell like previous meals.

-Garbage Can
You should clean the inside of your garbage (including the lid) can whenever you are taking out the trash. If you don't do it enough it can start to smell really bad.

For all of these try to clean with soap and water instead of cleaning sprays. You don't want some of the things they store coming in contact with harmful chemicals.

7. How To Fill Up Your Car's Gas Tank
It seems like it would be a simple task, but it has it's complexities.
These instructions depend on the car of course. I'm gonna be basing it off of mine, a 2006 Subaru Forester. Yep my car is older than some of you...

1. Make sure you pull up next to the station on the side where your gas tank is.
2. Turn off your car.
It is very important to remember to do this. If you leave your car on when you refuel you could start a fire from the extra vapors and electricity.
3. Find the mechanism to open the little door that blocks the actual tank.
With my car there is a little switch I flip that is on the floor of the drivers' side. To know where it is in your car I would recommend checking the manual that comes with the car. Or you could do a google search to find out.
4. Payment
Cash: You need to go inside the gas station and tell the worker how much gas you want (in gallons) and what pump number you are parked at. Then you pay and go back to your car. The cash amount will show up on the machine and you can fill up your car until it runs out.
Very important-Lock your car and make sure all windows are closed if you leave your car. Somebody could easily break in when you aren't looking.
Card: The machine will instruct you how to do this.
5. Open up the door and screw the cap off of the tank.
6. Pick up the nozzle off the machine and then press what kind of fuel you want. Usually people pick regular.
hqdefault.jpg
lol I couldn't resist
7. Then insert the nozzle into the tank's opening.
8. Then you need to push the little lever that is inside the handle up towards the top.
Several decades ago you would have to hold this lever the entire time that you are refueling, but now there is a mechanism to help. A little stopper thingy should come down and catch the lever you are pressing. It will hold it in place.
Here is a picture to better explain it:
1104Bucks-GasNozzle-blogSpan.jpg

9. Remove the nozzle when ready.
If you aren't looking at the screen you will know your car is done when you hear this kinda thudding sound. This is that little stopper going away, causing the lever to drop.
Just remove it carefully, try not to get any gas on you. Then you just put it back where it was before.
Also, don't be like this one person in my town and forget to put the nozzle back and rip the whole thing off the machine:
gashose.jpg

10. Rescrew nozzle.
Make sure that it clicks a couple of times, that means it secure (also dependent on car maybe?)
11. Close the little door.
Once again it depends on the car, but with mine I have to push that switch down in order to close the car door. Check your manual if you don't know how.
12. Finish the transaction, turn your car back on, and drive away.
I would also recommend using some hand sanitizer after refueling your car. #1 because of COVID and #2 because you could have small amounts of gasoline on your hands and that's nasty.

Bye bye for now!

It has been a while since I updated this, but I got a new one!
8. Dripping Your Faucets in the Winter
Not all of you get snow or freezing temperatures. But I hope this can be helpful to those of you who do!
How do Pipes Freeze?
Sometimes when it gets really cold the pipes in your home will freeze up. This freezing tends to happen over night.
When water freezes it expands, making your pipes have to deal with the extra pressure. This is especially detrimental to the joint parts of your pipes. When it begins to get warmer, usually the next morning, the ice in your pipes will begin to thaw. The existing stress on the pipes+the increased amount of water from melting causes pipes to burst. This can cause thousands of dollars in damage and you may lose ruining water.
What You Can Do To Prevent This.
In order to prevent your pipes from bursting you need to turn your faucets on so that they are just dripping. This small but steady flow of water will relieve the pressure in you pipe so they won't burst.
My family turns on all of the faucets but I think there is a way where you only need to turn on one. You find the faucet which is furthest from the water source and drip that one. My family just likes to play it safe by dripping all of them.
yeah so I will be dripping my faucets tonight!

Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Hello, I am a certified adult (20 years old)! I've noticed some adults, specifically individuals at my university, are not educated in the ways of adulting.
I'm sure some of you will know these things, but I think it's better to stay on the safe side and inform anyways!
Most of you are underage, so I hope that this can be helpful for when you are older. It is also a way for me to let go of my frustrations through passive aggressive posts lol.
Do I sound like a mom right now? YES. Do I care? NOPE, as long as I can provide some help to all of you.
And if you don't like this thread, then you don't have to read it, I don't mind.
So let's begin this comedic journey of basic adult tasks!

1. Clean the Lint Trap After Using The Drier
I posted a status about this, but I figured this would be a good place to start.
Once upon a time, in my freshman year of college, several individuals were not cleaning the lint trap after they used the communal driers. This started a minor fire and prevented the rest of the building from doing laundry for a bit!

So what is a lint trap?
Dryer+Filter.jfif

When you have a load of laundry in the drier the lint trap collects this grey dust stuff called lint. After the cycle is over you need to clean the lint off of the trap. Don't worry it's not gross. It's basically sanitized anyways due to the high hearts.
If you continually do not clean the lint trap every time you do laundry, the lint will build up and a fire can be started. Very dangerous, am I right.
If you live in a place where other people are using the dryer, I would recommend you check the lint trap before using it, cause people (like those that live in my dorm) tend to forget to do so.
So, don't be like the dumb kids in my freshman year college dorm! Just empty the lint trap! 💜

To Be Continued...
lol im 14 and even my mom drilled this into me
