formatives are the usual class assignments, homework, quizzes, etc. For me, formatives are 30% of my actual grade. So they make very little impact compared to summatives
Summatives can be test grades, project grades, or just a simple assignment given by your teacher. it depends on them. For me, its 70% of my actual grade. Depending on what I get on the summative assignment, my grade will either drastically drop, or greatly increase.
do you have finals?
for us we have diff percentages for diff things
independent practice - 5%
homework/classwork - 10%
quizzes - 25%
project/test grades - 30% or 35% i forgot

they go into a separate category thing
they don't affect my actual grade for the class. it js depends on whether i pass it or not. If I don't, even if I have a 100 in the class, I will have to take that class again
