Chapter 10: EVYN
"Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!" Saki had been repeating the phrase for the last five minutes and Briella was about to stuff something into the girl's mouth. She loved Saki, but if she said "oh my gosh" in a high-pitched voice one more time, Briella was going to snap.

"I can't believe we're going to see EVYN live!" Saki finally squealed, making Forrest chuckle at her excitement. She was waving her lightstick around excitedly, the only member of their group that wasn't sitting in their seat. They only had five minutes until the concert started, but Saki had already started jumping around, screaming and waving her lightstick. Her partners just watched her with amused smiles and glared at anyone who gave her an odd look.

"Alright, sit down. You're going to lose your energy before the performance even starts," Briella reached over and dragged Saki into the empty seat next to her. Saki sat down and slumped in the seat, crossing her arms. They were on the second row, right in front of the stage. It was Saki's dreams come true. She didn't want to sit, she wanted to do all she could to make sure she didn't waste this moment.

Forrest leaned over to Saki and took the lightstick from her. "Isn't this group a bit too new to have their own official lightstick already?"

Saki grabbed the lightstick back from him. "This isn't official. I made it myself, using thier logo."

"Oh…"

The lights dimmed, and Saki screamed. "It's starting! It's starting!"

She was the loudest to cheer as the girls made their way out onto the stage. They began with their song "Impurities", which had Saki screaming and jumping all over the place. The other three were up with her, although none of them had the energy she had. Briella was singing along with the song, Owen was jumping with Saki and Forrest was intently studying the girls onstage.

Over the past few months, Forrest had learned all he could about being in a K-Pop group so he could know what his girlfriends were getting into. When he'd learned about sasaengs, he'd tried all he could to convince them not to do it, but they reassured him they had it handled. Now, watching the girls onstage and the audience of yelling fans all around them, he was starting to slip back into his worries. He knew Briella could handle herself, but he worried for Saki. She always got anxious in crowded settings, and her panic attacks were no joke. He hoped Briella would take care of her when he couldn't.

The first song ended, and the girls adressed the audience. Saki, Briella and Owen were all mesmerized by them, but Forrest was still preoccupied with his worries. He knew this was Saki's biggest dream, but he still worried for her.

"I wasn't expecting it to be so cold in here," Saki whined, turning to Forrest as the girls wrapped up their moment with the audience and moved into their next song. Forrest chuckled and wrapped his jacket around Saki's shoulders. She grinned up at him, and his heart melted. He hoped her fans appreciated her cuteness as much as she did. Even if he was worried for her, he knew the world would love her. She was the cutest thing he had ever seen.

Briella stepped back uneasily and looked around. EVYN had launched into their next song, but this time, none of the four were jumping around or singing. Saki shivered in Forrest's jacket and Forrest wrapped his arms around her. Briella glanced around suspiciously while Owen nervously fidgeted with the lightstick Saki had handed him.

"Saki's right. It shouldn't be this cold here," Briella whispered so only the four could hear her. "These things get warmed up quickly, with all the bodies moving around."

"It couldn't be… Could it?" Owen asked, looking around nervously.

Briella looked down at the lightstick in Forrest's hand. Frost had begun to spread over the circular top, covering up the logo that was hidden inside. Owen yelped and dropped the lightstick as the frost began to move towards his hand.

"Frost isn't supposed to do that!" he hissed to Briella.

"Yes, I know. Just… Relax. I'm trying to think."

Forrest wrapped his arms tighter around Saki in a protective embrace. She snuggled into his chest, her face echoing the fear in his heart. "I thought they were gone…" she whispered. He winced, realizing that he'd never told her the news Nilla had shared with him a while back.

"Keep an eye on Saki," she had warned. "I ran into Abigail yesterday. If she's back, then who's telling who else could return."

Forrest understood who she was referencing with that. "You don't mean her, do you?"

"I hope I'm wrong," was all she'd said.

She hadn't been wrong. Forrest looked over at Briella, who looked up at the stage, where EVYN was still dancing and singing happily. If they had noticed the sudden cold, they didn't show it.

"Lets sneak out," she whispered to Forrest. "If they attack in a crowded place like this, we'll definitely have some casualties."

Forrest nodded and looked down at Saki. All the excitement from earlier had changed into pure terror. He began ushering her and Owen out, Briella following behind them, surveying the area to make sure they wouldn't be ambushed.

They didn't make it to the doors before they slammed shut. Briella ran into Forrest, who had frozen. She grabbed onto him right as the room plunged into darkness. The music stopped, and it was eerily silent for a clock tick.

Then the screaming began.

Forrest grabbed his partners and shoved them into the wall as the crowd stampeded, trying to find their way out of the concert hall. He guarded them with their body, hoping they were enough out of the way to avoid getting trampled.

He heard screams, crying and the thudding of feet. He couldn't see anything, but he felt several bodies brush past him in their rush to get out. It was so noisy that he almost missed the sound of rushing water.

Saki screamed as a giant wave crashed into them. He grabbed onto her and pulled her tight into him. She didn't know how to swim, so if the water got too deep he would be the only thing keeping her from drowning. Luckily, it didn't seem the wave had been too bad. The water barely made it up to his knees. Of course, this didn't keep Saki from panicking.

"Caitlyn! Caitlyn's here!" she shrieked, and Forrest had to hold onto her to prevent her from running into the rioting masses. He heard people trying to batter down the doors, which wasn't a good thing. Saki was so tiny she would be pulverized in the crowd within seconds.

"Forrest, what are we supposed to do?" Briella yelled, grabbing onto his sleeve. He'd lost track of where Owen was, but he hoped he was still near.

"I don't know!" Forrest yelled back, still trying to keep Saki from running away. The poor girl was terrified. She'd had a crippling fear of water ever since Caitlyn had tried to drown her years ago. The fact that Caitlyn was back didn't bode as a good sign.

"Where's Owen?" she yelled, grabbing onto his arm. She got her answer to that question a second later.

The lights blazed back on around the room, and Forrest saw that they were by the wall that was right by the stage. On the stage were two girls. They both had dark black hair. One wore a red dress that was smoking on the edges, the other was wearing a blue dress that was dripping wet. Neither girl had a face.

The fiery girl, Abigail, had Owen in her custody. She had tied the blonde boy to a chair that had been a prop onstage. He was struggling to get out of the ropes. The second girl, Caitlyn, moved to the front of the stage and looked around. Forrest tried to hide Saki behind him, but it was too late. She had spotted them.

"She has Owen! I'm going to save him!" Briella yelled, dashing toward the stage.

"Where's EVYN?" Saki asked, looking at the stage around Forrest.

"What?" Forrest asked her, wondering how she could be thinking about them at a time like this.

Saki gestured towards the stage. "Where are they? What if the ghosts hurt them?"

"They have security-"

"Security doesn't fight ghosts!" Saki yelled, then started off towards the stage.

"Saki, wait!" Forrest called after her, but he was too late. She bolted right towards the ghosts, who watched her come with outstretched arms. Briella made it to the stage first. She grabbed a can of something from her pocket as she leapt onto the stage and tossed the metal flakes inside at the watery ghost who had began making her way towards Saki. When the metal flakes hit the ghost, it screamed and backed away from her as parts of her began to steam.

Briella turned her attention to the other ghost, who screeched and began a rushed float towards her. Saki jumped onto the stage after her and looked around for the missing girl group. She noticed a flash of movement towards the back of the stage and realized they were hiding behind some props.

Below them, the audience had managed to bust the doors open and were rushing out of them. They didn't realize what was happening on the stage. They didn't see Forrest rush onto the stage and shove Saki out of the way as the watery ghost recovered from the metal and shot a ball of water at her. The two fell to the ground and it sailed over them, melting into the water already covering the floor.

"What are you doing?" Forrest hissed as Saki, then dragged her up as the two girls turned their attention to her. Realizing she'd lost Abigail's attention, Briella threw a fistful of more metal shards at her, but nothing could distract the ghosts from their target.

"Run!" Forrest yelled at her, but she shook her head.

"I'm sick of running."

Then she did the stupidest yet bravest thing he'd ever seen her do: she grabbed the metal canister that Jewel required all of them to carry. Saki always kept hers in the pocket of her hoodie so it would be easy to access because she was the number one target of ghosts.

"SAKI, NO!" Briella screamed as Saki launched the canister at the ghosts. They both screamed as the canister hit the ground between them. It landed in the water and sat there. They turned to her, believing it didn't work.

Then it exploded.

☆☆☆

Nessa had never seen such a beautiful sight in her entire life. When the canister exploded, the sparks reminded her of fireworks. Although the aftermath was messy with fire spreading across the stage quickly, Nessa couldn't help thinking that it was still beautiful in its own special way.

The last thing she expected to happen at her debut concert was a blackout, flood, fire and some kind of kidnapping. She wasn't entirely sure what the deal was with the kids and two girls, but she knew it would be an unforgettable experience.

One look at her group showed she was the only one who was enjoying this. Lyra was sobbing in a corner, Sunny was coughing on smoke, Noelle was comforting Lyra, Mona was trying to find a manager and Anna was rushing to the four kids who were still on the stage. Nessa got up and quickly followed her.

Upon closer inspection, Nessa saw that they weren't kids. They were young, but they looked older than teenagers. There were two girls and two boys. The Asian girl who had launched the canister at the woman was standing still, staring at her handiwork. The black haired boy was helping the other girl free the blonde boy from the chair the red girl had tied him to. Anna marched right up to the small Asian girl and began yelling at her.

"What the heck was that? Our stage is on fire now!" she gestured to the fire that was slowly beginning to fizzle out due to the foot of water on the stage. "Well, it was on fire! Who are you, some kind of sasaeng?"

"Hey, she just freed us from the sasaeng, Anna," Nessa put a comforting hand on the younger girl's shoulder. "Or whatever that girl was."

"She set the girl on fire!" Anna yelled, then managed to sputter, "I just saw a girl die!"

"She was already dead. They were ghosts," the girl said, making both Anna and Nessa turn to her.

"Sorry, what?" Anna asked. Nessa thought the small girl was odd, but she found herself drawn to her quirks.

"They were ghosts?"

The girl nodded as her three friends stepped in front of her, having succeeded from freeing the blonde boy from the chair. Slowly, the other members from EVYN joined whatever interaction was happening. Except Mona, who was still trying to find a manager.

"Hey, wait, I recognize you guys!" Noelle gasped, pointing to the blonde girl, then the Asian girl. "You guys are Briella and Saki, from that pre-debut group! What was your name again? FMC?"

"Yeah, that's us!" the Asian girl, Saki, said happily.

"I heard that some members of your group were coming here tonight," Noelle mused.

Three security officers ran in through the broken door, pausing when they saw the flooded and charred room.

"Where was security when we were being attacked?" Anna huffed.

Nessa turned to her group, then to the other group. The group of pre-debut idols. She believed Saki about the ghosts. She had seen the women up close. They were floating, partly see-through and had no faces. She'd always believed in the supernatural, though, so it would be harder to convince the other members of her group that this was what was going on.

The security made their way to the girls, their managers running behind them. Nessa pulled out a crumpled paper from her pocket, scribbled her number on it, then passed it to Saki. The girl looked up at her, then down at the paper.

"You guys should probably get out of here. The press won't like it if they figure out it was you who set the fire," Nessa whispered to Saki. "But when you get to safety, call me. I want to know about the ghosts."

Saki looked at Nessa before she was dragged away by Briella. The four ran out the backstage exit as security ran onstage.

"Were they the ones harrasing you?" one of the managers asked the girls. Nessa stepped up and answered for her group.

"No. They stopped the sasaengs, but they'd prefer to remain anonymous. They're heroes, though," she said, then glared at the group, daring any of them to question her.

None of them contradicted her.

Chapter 11: Nessa
"Do you think she'll actually come?" Saki asked, stirring her drink anxiously with her straw. "I didn't make the instructions too complicated, did I?"

"The instructions were fine, Love. I'm sure she'll figure them out quickly," Briella said, a bit distracted. The two were in a small cafe on the small island that was named The Island. Saki had named it herself. She had also created everyone on The Island, including the cafe that she sat in with Briella as they waited for Nessa to meet them.

After the EVYN concert, Briella, Saki, Forrest and Owen had hurried home to avoid getting in trouble. They weren't sure how the cops of the real world would react to ghosts crashing a concert, but they figured the repercussions wouldn't be good.

The next day, Saki had texted the number Nessa had given her. After chatting for a while, Nessa said she wanted to know about the women who had ruined her concert. Saki had agreed to tell her, then had sent her specific instructions to a meeting place that wouldn't attract any paparazzi. The problem was, the only way to the meeting place was through a magic crystal that Saki had mailed to her the night before. Saki had no idea if Nessa had gotten the crystal or understood the instructions that she had included with them.

"She'll come, don't worry. This was her idea, after all," Briella said in an attempt to console Saki, who was spinning her drink faster and faster. She put a hand over her girlfriend's to stop the panicked movement. "If she doesn't come, then we can always reschedule it to be somewhere in Korea."

Saki nodded, releasing her cup. Briella picked up a powdered donut and took a bite of it, looking back at the entrance. The cafe was empty except for the two, as it had been for years. The Island had stopped getting visitors when they had left it the first time. They hadn't expected to be able to get back to it, but Saki had managed to find a way. Now it was their retreat whenever times in the real world got tough.

The door opened and Nessa stepped inside, looking around at the flowery pink cafe. When she spotted Saki and Briella, she grinned and hurried to their table.

"When you guys said that you knew of a secret place to have this conversation, I didn't think that this is what you meant!" she plopped down next to Saki, eyes wide with excitement. "You guys have your own secret island?"

"Yep, we do," Briella said through a mouthful of donut.

"Where do you even get your own island?" Nessa wondered. Saki and Briella exchanged the glance.

"That's a bit of a long story," Saki laughed nervously.

Nessa grabbed her own donut and sat back. "I have a while. This is my day off, so they won't be expecting me back until late."

"Alright then, if you insist," Saki said, then began telling Nessa the story behind the island and the ghosts.

☆☆☆

A thick file landed on Dohee's desk, delivered by Yeojin. "What's this?" Dohee asked.

"The information you requested," Yeojin said hesistantly. She had broken several rules to get the information, but she was more scared of Dohee than Jiwoo.

Dohee regarded the file with interest before looking up at Yeojin. "Why are you still here? Go back before someone notices you're gone!"

Yeojin bowed before scurrying out of the room. Dohee watched her go, then flipped open the pale yellow folder to the papers inside. It was about 30 pages thick, and Dohee sorted through them delicately, like they were the most fragile things on Earth. The papers themselves weren't the important part, but the information on them was.

After reading through everything, Dohee grinned and picked up her cell phone, dialing her good friend Park Jimin from (F)K-Pop News.

☆☆☆

"And that's about everything!" Saki looked over to Briella for confirmation that she had told the story right. Briella gave Saki a vague nod of her head, which was high praise for her. Nessa regarded them with a look of admiration and she was bouncing in her seat.

"So you guys battle ghosts on the daily, then!" she gasped.

"Well, we haven't done it in a while, but yes," Saki laughed nervously.

"That's so cool! I have so many questions!"

Briella looked down at her watch and winced. "Ah, I love that, but I don't think we have time for questions. Saki and I have practice in thirty minutes."

Saki's eyes widened. "What? Already?"

"It would appear so."

Nessa sighed, a bit disappointed. "Alright, but text me the next time a ghost attacks! I want their autograph!"

"What?" Saki and Briella asked at the same time.

"I don't think that's possible," Saki said.

"Why would you want that?" Briella asked.

"Because it's cool! Anyways, how do I get home?"

Saki gestured to the crystal necklace around Nessa's neck. "Use that. Just turn the dial the other way and it'll send you back where you came from."

"Oh, really? Okay, well, I guess I'll see you guys later!"

"Bye!" Saki waved to Nessa as she glittered away, then turned to Briella.

"Do you think it was smart to tell her all that?" Briella asked.

Saki shrugged. "She seems harmless enough. Anyways, she promised that if we told her the truth of what happened she would keep her company from suing us."

"Isn't Jiwoo friends with the CEO of her company?"

"We destroyed their group's concert. I think that's enough to make a friendship go sour."

"Fair enough."

Saki paused. "But hopefully they can get their relationship sorted out because I want more free tickets."

Briella snorted as Saki got out her own crystal and teleported them back.

When they arrived at RE:VENGE for practice twenty minutes later, an eerie silence greeted them. Other than the receptionist at her desk, no one else was there. They had expected to find at least one member of their group at the vending machines or chilling on the couch before practice began, but no one was there. Briella and Saki exchanged a confused look as they made their way to the back of the company to the practice rooms.

They heard the shouting before they found the source of the noise.

Everyone was in the dance studio, screaming so loud that Saki and Briella weren't able to pinpoint individual words over all the voices. In the front of the room, Jiwoo was talking in rapid Korean to Penni, who didn't look like she understood anything that was being said. Yeojin was typing furiously into her phone on the other side of the room while Mr. Kang, their social media manager, yelled at her. The other members of FMC were in the middle of the room, shouting over each other. Saki and Briella made their way over to them in hopes someone would explain what was going on, but no one seemed to notice their approach.

"I'm telling you, I buried everything!" Nilla was arguing with Lindzy.

"Well, you didn't bury it deep enough!" Lindzy yelled back.

"How did she follow you here?" Ayla, Kiri and Navy had cornered hanni in their own little interrogation.

"I don't know, maybe she came with us when we moved here?" Hanni was panicking, running a hand through her already messy hair. Saki made her way to her sister while Briella stayed in the doorway.

"Saki! Thank goodness you're here!" Hanni noticed Saki before the other three did. "Did you know Cherry followed us here?"

"What?" Saki stopped next to Hanni, unsure if she had heard correctly. "Cherry?"

Navy handed a paper to Saki. It was a printout of a news article from (F)K-Pop News, titled "St4rlight's Cherry Lies About Not Being Related to FMC's Hanni and Saki".

"Apparently she followed us here and got into her own label," Hanni explained.

"In the span of two months? How?" Saki asked.

"I'm not sure. But someone noticed how similar we look and asked if she was related to me, but she denied it."

"Then someone found out… But how did they notice she was related to me?" Saki was adopted, so it would be hard to pinpoint her being related to Hanni and Cherry if she didn't tell them she was their sister.

"I'm not sure. That's what we're trying to figure out."

"It's caused a huge scandal," Kiri said.

"Well, that added with the other news that came out," Ayla explained. "I'm sure that if this had come out by itself, no one would care."

"What was the other news?" Saki asked, although she feared she already knew the answer.

"They know about you crashing EVYN's concert. They know about the ghosts. They know what we did when we came to this world years ago," Navy said quietly.

"Oh," was all Saki could think to say. "How are we going to handle it?"

The girls all turned their attention to the front of the room, where Jiwoo, Penni, Yeojin and Mr. Kang had begun whispering amogst each other.

"We'll let the adults handle it for now," Lindzy said, joining their conversation. Briella and Nilla followed her as she joined the group. "In the meanwhile, we'll work to bury the information they didn't dig up even deeper."

"So they don't know everything yet?" Briella asked hopefully.

"Not yet," Lindzy said, which made them all give a sigh of relief. "But that could change."

"I'll work on burying it and deleting those articles. Hacking a popular news station might be a risk but it's nothing we haven't done before," Nilla said.

"In a week, this will all be forgotten," Lindzy promised.

Saki looked down at the articles in her hand and had a hard time believing that was true.
