Chapter One: Worth the Wait~ Part One
You laid your head against Sehun's shoulder with a light sigh escaping past your lips. The man beside you looked down at you with a concerned expression. "You okay jagi?~" He asked quietly, turning to gently nuzzle your hair as his hand went up to hold your hand. His fingers slipped over the cool metal that rested on your left ring finger.
Let's clarify something. You were Oh (Y/N), formally (L/N) (Y/N), at least until you had married the infamous EXO member Oh Sehun after a year and a half of dating. Why he fell for someone like you and not one of the idols he was always around was a mystery to you but you were thankful.
"I'm okay. Are you okay? I packed gimbap rolls if you're hungry," You answer your beloved and start to sit up to retrieve the food for your husband, who was no doubt hungry. You couldn't recall either of you having eaten breakfast that morning; it'd been such a rush to get out the door so as to make you train on time. Sehun sat up a little and waited patiently for you to dig around your bag until you pulled out a foil package and opened it to pull out a smaller, foil wrapped log shape. You handed the roll to Sehun, who thanked you and unwrapped the seaweed treat. You sat back in your seat. You were to nervous to eat, your mind wandering with what ifs. Eventually your mind trailed back to why you were even on this train, headed south.
You and Sehun were newly married, only about three months. It wasn't that you enjoyed living the married life but you had begun to think about a family, something that had always been in the back of your mind. You had bravely brought up the topic one night while you and Sehun were just laying in bed.
He had looked down at you, tucked into his side, with an almost shocked look as you brought it up, "Why do you ask jagi? You aren't expecting any surprises, are you?" He pursued his lips together in thinking.
You shook your head, "No but I have always wanted a family. Do you yeobo?" You looked up at him.
He seemed to be thinking but the more he seemed to think, the more he started smiling, "Having a little girl like you would be wonderful."
You just smiled at him, "I was thinking a handsome boy like his father."
"We won't have either if we don't try."
And you didn't have either. It wasn't that you and Sehun didn't try; there were plenty of attempts made. It seemed like every spare moment you got. But nothing ever happened, which understandingly frustrated the two of you. After a while, you two made the choice to visit a doctor to ask why the troubles. The doctor asked about everything; how often you tried, what your time of month was like, etc. Tests were run on both of you to check on your...reproduction capabilities. It was three days later when you got the news. Sehun had left for work and you had gotten a phone call not long after. It was the doctor's office and you hoped to get some answers. You did but what you found left you broken. The only thing you remember from that conversation was...
Lack of eggs.
It was your fault. You were the reason you couldn't have a baby. The realization came to you and tears instantly began to sting your eyes. You messaged Sehun and asked if he could come home. When you didn't reply to his message asking what was wrong, he was home even quicker.
"(Y/N)? jagi?" Sehun peaked his head in the door, looking for his beloved. The sniffles coming from the couch led him to perhaps the worst sight he'd ever seen.
You were curled up on the couch, your eyes red and puffy from crying, your nose red and runny. You'd been crying hard, sobbing your soul out.
"Jagi what is wrong? What is wrong?" Sehun asked, kneeling before you and taking your hands in his own.
"I-It's my fault," You hiccuped.
"What is?"
"Why we can't have kids," You started tearing up again. "It's because of me." With that you started sobbing again.
Sehun didn't push for details, just stood and scooped you up, holding you in his lap. You cried into him for a while before you fell asleep from exhaustion. He sighed softly and ran his fingers through your soft hair, kissing your forehead. His heart broke for you, if not more than it broke even for his own disappointment of not being able to be a father.
The next few weeks you were mopey. You didn't know what to do with yourself anymore. What were you going to do with your life? Just cook and sit at home, waiting for your famous husband to get home? You couldn't do that forever so you decided to get a job.
At first it was at a coffee shop, then a cute clothes store, then to a bubble tea place, and finally a pet shop. You couldn't find a job you liked. They were all great at first but after a month, you were ready to quit so you did and went on to the next thing. The only thing these jobs were good for was that they passed the months by for you.
Sehun though couldn't stand to see you in such a state. You always seemed okay on the outside but he knew inside you were still broken. He didn't blame you, not for a minute, but he knew you were never going to be happy with life like it was. So, he made a choice that would affect both your lives.
