The YG Leaker Situation

Recently, a person known online as the "YG Leaker" has been posting what they claim are secret files from YG Entertainment. YG Entertainment is one of the biggest K-pop companies and is home to groups like BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, and AKMU. The leaks spread really fast on X (Twitter), TikTok, Discord, and other social media, and fans have been arguing about them ever since.

The leaker said they had access to YG's private files and started posting videos, photos, documents, and information that had never been released before. Some of the leaked content looked real, but many other claims have never been confirmed. Because of that, people are still debating what is true and what is just a rumor.

What Was Leaked?

The YG Leaker shared or claimed to have many different types of content, including:
  • Pre-debut BLACKPINK trainee videos.
  • Dance and rap evaluation videos.
  • Unreleased songs and demo recordings.
  • Practice videos.
  • Information about current and former trainees.
  • Alleged company plans and schedules.
  • Older PINKPUNK (BLACKPINK's original pre-debut project) content.
  • BABYMONSTER trainee videos and demos.
  • Other unreleased YG Entertainment material.
Some of these leaks appeared to be authentic, while others have not been verified by YG Entertainment.

The BLACKPINK Controversy

The biggest controversy happened after videos started spreading online that allegedly showed BLACKPINK members Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa singing along to songs during trainee evaluations and saying the N-word because it was in the original lyrics.

The videos caused a huge argument online.

Some people believed the members should have known not to say the word, especially because some of them speak English fluently or grew up in English-speaking countries.

Other people argued that the recordings were made years before BLACKPINK debuted and were simply practice evaluations where trainees were performing songs exactly as they were written. They also said there is a difference between singing lyrics and using a racial slur toward someone.

As of now, YG Entertainment has not officially confirmed every leaked video or responded to every allegation. Because of that, people still disagree about what should be believed.

Why Is This a Big Deal?

YG Entertainment is known for keeping everything secret before official announcements. If someone really leaked private company files, it could affect artists, trainees, and employees.

Many fans were especially worried about trainees because they never chose to be public figures, yet their personal evaluations and videos were suddenly online for everyone to watch.

At the same time, many fans were excited because they got to see content that had never been released before.

Different Opinions

The leaks have divided K-pop fans into different groups.

Some people think the leaker exposed important information that fans deserved to know.

Others think leaking private videos is wrong because it invades the privacy of artists and trainees who trusted the company.

Another group believes people should not immediately believe everything the leaker says because many claims have never been proven.
