me: no it's not. it's a microaggression. asians don't eat cats (it's actually illegal in a lot of places), and if they do it's for survival. there's not rlly anything that makes eating a cat different from eating a pig or a cow, anyway.

Soβ¦last night after I gave my daughter her shower, I was getting her dressed and she said to me βmommy, did my dad pass out?β And I asked her to repeat herself and she did, but I thought she was saying something else, so I asked her to explain and she said βdid he go to sleep.β And I realized what she was saying, and I said βyeah, baby, he passed out.β And she goes βah, no, I didnβt want him to pass out.β And like put her head in her hands & did a dramatic sigh.
it almost made me cry because sheβs starting to get to that age where sheβs asking about her dad now. Sheβll be 5 in July. This June will make 5 years since her dad was murdered & Iβve never mentioned it to her before, when her dad has been brought up, we just say βheβs just not with us any longerβ but we havenβt used the words βpassed on/out/awayβ or anything like that.
I know Iβll have to tell her the truth one day, but Iβm hoping it will be when sheβs a bit older, say 11-13 somewhere around there, where she can understand and grasp the situation better.
It was just a weird experience to me last night, especially since she said it out of the blue.
